KISS Career Development Award and KISS Mid-Career Award

Dear KISS members,

We are pleased to announce two KISS awards: KISS Career Development Award and KISS Mid-Career Award and invite you to apply or nominate. These awards recognize statisticians in the early and mid-stages of their careers who have demonstrated outstanding productivity through service and/or research in statistical science and show strong potential to make significant contributions to our society in statistics. We encourage applicants working in academia, government, industry, and non-profit research organizations.

Descriptions of Two Awards:

1. KISS Career Development Award 

KISS Career Development Award recognizes statisticians in the early stage of their career who have demonstrated outstanding productivity and the potential to make significant contributions to the field of statistics.

Eligibility:

  • Active member of KISS
  • No more than 7 years since completion of highest educational degree

Application Process:

To be considered for the award, applicants should submit the following materials via email to the KISS Executive Director, Dr. MinJae Lee (minjae.lee@uth.tmc.edu) by 11:59 p.m. EDT Feb 15, 2026:

  • Candidate’s CV
  • Letter that provides a brief summary of key accomplishments and future goals (not to exceed 300 words)
  • One letter of support from current or former mentor/supervisor

KISS Career Development Award: 2~3 awards; Recognition plaque and $500 JSM travel support

2. KISS Mid-Career Award  

Award Full Title: Outstanding Contribution to Statistical Research, Practice, and Service Award

Selection Criteria: This award celebrates distinguished members of KISS for their:

  • Exceptional Contributions to the KISS society
  • Impact through practice/service or research in development and application of statistical and data science methods in the statistical sciences.

Eligibility:

Prospective candidates should be active KISS members, maintaining uninterrupted membership for the preceding three years, calculated from the year of nomination. Additionally, nominees must hold a degree (PhD, MS, or BA/BS) in disciplines pertaining to statistics and data science and be in the intermediate stage of their careers.

Application Process:

The following materials must be submitted via email to the KISS Executive Director, Dr. MinJae Lee (minjae.lee@uth.tmc.edu), no later than 11:59 p.m. EDT Feb 15, 2026. All applications will be evaluated by the KISS Awards Committee.

  • Candidate’s CV
  • Letter(s) of nomination
